OMGโ€ฆ.. not again! Why are there PILES and PILES of essays to write?!? Most colleges require a WHY US essay. Now, most of you may be wondering if there are any tips and tricks to quickly and efficiently tackle this prompt.

๐“๐ข๐ฉ: Weaving everything with the โ€œgolden threadโ€

Knowing how to connect all the pieces of information you have presented from the beginning to the end is really important in the WHY US essay. One simple way to achieve this is by dividing your essay into three parts: past, present, and future. Take a look at this and try to see whether your WHY US essay has answered these questions:

๐๐š๐ฌ๐ญ:

This is the part where you present the origin of your interests.

๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ:

Show examples of how you have pursued your interests during high school. These can be extracurricular activities, such as clubs, research, campaigns you have held, or outside classes you have taken. This is the part where you need to demonstrate your INITIATION.

- How have you turned your interests into actions?

๐…๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž:

This is the part where you need to show your INTELLECTUAL VITALITY and how that connects to your past experiences and how you will FURTHER INITIATE to learn this in college.

- How are you going to further explore your interests with the given universityโ€™s courses, academic faculty (eg. professors, research), and student organizations?

- How are you going to take advantage of the resources within the university (courses, professors, organizations) to further learn about your interests?

- How are you going to take advantage of the resources outside the university (internships, study abroad programs, social events) to further learn about your interests?

- How are you going to use what you have learned in the universityโ€™s classroom to apply outside of your school?

- How are you going to use this education you get from the university to impact your community or serve others? (note: Universities are looking for potential leaders who are willing to make impacts)
