Meet Counselor Rika, a notable alumni of the University of Toronto, ranked #1 in Canada and among the top 20 universities globally. Originally from Japan and Myanmar, Rika completed her high school education as an International Baccalaureate (IB) student at the International School of Yangon (ISY), which laid the foundation for her strong academic and global perspective. She went on to complete her Honours Bachelor of Science in 2023, with a multidisciplinary focus in Psychology, International Relations, and Applied Statistics.

Rika’s diverse academic background reflects her passion for understanding human behavior, global systems, and data-driven decision-making, a foundation that continues to shape her impactful work today. During her time at the University of Toronto, Rika conducted research at the intersection of social, cultural, and clinical psychology, specifically examining how diverse social environments and cultural identities influence mental health and well-being.

She also supported fellow students by offering guidance on tailoring resumes, writing essays, and navigating the complexities of academic and professional writing. Beyond her academic accomplishments, Rika has demonstrated a deep commitment to service through volunteer work at local orphanages, homeless shelters, and by supporting the Japanese community at the University of Toronto. These experiences have strengthened her ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and provided her with valuable insight into the challenges students face throughout their educational journeys.
